The important thing is to enjoy yourself. You can not only enjoy yourself but also entertain others. “I found out retirement means playing golf, or I don’t know what the hell it means. I’m sure that will not be a very big deal. But strangely we find ourselves not ready for so much free time and inactivity. Though everyone has some hobby, every hobby is not realizable in old age.
Retirement hobbies are the ones that were enjoyed during the professional life too, but retirement lets you focus on them and take up more such hobbies. You will never run out of things to discuss.
Many people look forward to the post retirement phase of life because that is when you can live life like a free bird. But you are bound to get bored of it after a certain limit. You will not only utilize your time in the best possible way but you will also feel very good about yourself at the end of the day.
You don’t need huge talent to pursue this hobby unless you are planning to become a full-fledged published writer. There are loads of other hobbies which can be a great way to spend your well earned leisure time and enjoy your life after retirement. You could also start your own non profit organization but that will need some work, so it is better to work for already established organizations. Visit jazz clubs, or blues performances, musical theater or just listen to music in your home for relaxation and inspiration. It is the time, when hopefully, there is not much to worry about and you have time for yourself. Involve your friends who share passion for reading and sharing their views. So go through these things to do post retirement, and pick what catches your fancy.. But just reading books day after day can get a little boring after a while. It will also give you a lot of writing practice and you will enjoy it.
Various types of fishing
Playing video games
Event planning and organizing
Interior decorating and designing
Creating wall art and wall hangings
Learning tarot card reading
The above list is by no means exhaustive. If you think you are not that good at writing but you like doing it you can start a blog. Then you can tell about it to your friends and family and see their response to it. But to me, retirement means doing what you have fun doing.”

So you always wanted to learn to play a guitar, now is your time. If you have a few retired friends who are also interested in music, you can start a band of your own and play at local pubs etc.
Another very good and rewarding hobby is volunteering for non profit organizations or charities. Even that has become easy with so many self publishing tools available. This sudden change of routine can also become stressful. Join some music classes or learn it yourself. So try out different hobbies until you find the one that you really enjoy.
Books are your best friends. So it is good to have a list of hobbies so that you can switch between them and enjoy life. At such a time, hobbies can be a great way to pass this surplus time and enjoy life. All you need now is a place to get together. A solution to that is a book club. You can discuss a certain book, explore different genres, or people can share their own writing
